WHO I AM
Founder Megan Yeomans
Land & Trails has developed after years of taking friends and family dogs out for walks and doing dog sitting/sleepovers, as well as going out with another local dog walker/trainer to observe and learn more about larger groups, dog behaviour and learn about different breeds of dogs. I currently have a 2-year-old mixed working breed dog called River, who is the main driver for me wanting to do dog walking. I love nothing more than learning what motivates dogs. When I’m not up the hills and training River, you’ll find me with my head in the books, watching videos and taking every opportunity I can get to research and stay up to date with all things dogs. The more time I spend with them the more my passion grows.
I am canine first aid trained, fully insured, have a full clean driving licence and Disclosure Scotland checked.
Land & Trails is a new dog walking service based in Clydebank, covering Old Kilpatrick to Knightswood area (if you are outwith this catchment but are still interested, please get in contact to discuss if we can manage to fit your dog in!)
Having my own young mixed working breed dog, I know the importance of enriching experiences for your pups. I focus on nature-based walks where your dog has the chance to explore and sniff exciting areas. We will also take some time where possible to do basic training such as sit, stays, and games to help make the walks safe, engaging and to help build a good bond between me and your dog so we can have lots of fun together! For group walks I can only take dogs that walk well on lead and that don’t have reactivity to other dogs, for dogs that struggle in group settings, there is an option for solo walks, your dog and the other dogs safety is my priority.
Our adventures are aimed at dogs with good health, who can tolerate longer distance outings. Dogs under 1 year old will not be permitted on these walks due to their bodies still growing. Solo walks are available for dogs who may struggle. Don’t worry, I will help determine if the walks are a good fit for your canine companion!
WHAT WE DO
HOW IT WORKS
From 8am for morning sessions or from 1pm for afternoon sessions, the dogs will be picked up and driven in my fully kitted out van with comfortable crates for safe and secure travels.
Now it’s time to go on our adventure where your dog will have plenty of opportunity to sniff, explore and socialise with their canine friends under my supervision. There will also be some opportunity where safe and appropriate to run, swim, play, do basic obedience/scent work/retrieves.
After the session your dogs will likely be mucky/covered in sand (it wouldn’t be an adventure without a bit of dirt!) so I will do my best to get as much mud off as possible before popping them back in the van for a bit of down time while we drive them home to settle after their big day.
We will arrive at the chosen location for the day, not too far away to help stop the pups from getting bored or travel sick.
